Karachi, March 10, 2022: U.S. Consulate General Karachi hosted meetings between the visiting Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (AUSTR) for South and Central Asia Christopher Wilson and representatives from the American Business Council, the Pakistan Business Council, and Pakistan’s financial, textile and apparel, and agricultural sectors.
In meetings with the visiting delegation and representatives from different businesses and industries, the delegation underscored the importance of expanding the U.S.- Pakistan trade relationship. “The United States and Pakistan have much to be proud of in our trade and business relationship. This visit is an opportunity to expand the already thriving U.S.-Pakistan commercial relationship,” noted AUSTR Wilson.
During the various discussions, the U.S. delegation underscored the United States is focused on working with its Pakistani partners to expand trade and investment ties. AUSTR Wilson congratulated Pakistan’s firms for having taken significant steps toward increasing the environmental sustainability of their operations and stressed the importance of empowering women and increasing their participation in Pakistan’s economy.
During meetings with Pakistan’s soy and textile industries, Assistant USTR Wilson shared USTR’s perspectives on trade and investment, including challenges and opportunities to expand U.S.-Pakistani trade and investment.
