Message to U.S. Citizens: Launch of Online Passport Renewal Program

The Department of State is pleased to announce that U.S. Embassy Islamabad, U.S. Consulate General Karachi, and U.S. Consulate General Lahore are now accepting mail-in DS-82 adult U.S. passport renewal applications with online fee payment.  Qualified individuals will not have to schedule appointments or appear at the Embassy or Consulate to renew their passports.

Adult passport applicants wishing to pay for their DS-82 renewal application online may visit https://pk.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/ to determine eligibility to use this option.  If eligible, applicants may submit payment via U.S. or international credit or debit card, electronic funds transfer from a U.S.-based bank account, Amazon Pay, or Pay Pal.

Please note that the mail-in DS-82 adult U.S. passport renewal and online fee option is limited to U.S. citizens residing in Pakistan.  U.S. citizens who reside outside of Pakistan are not eligible for this service.  Online fee payment is currently available for adult passport book renewals only

Additional information is available on our website under How to mail-in your adult passport renewal from anywhere in Pakistan

We strongly recommend eligible applicants to take advantage of this pilot program and avoid unnecessary travel.
