Security Alert – U. S. Consulate General – Karachi (July 27, 2018)
Location: Karachi, Sindh
Event: The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi reminds U.S. citizens that despite the conclusion of national elections, terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Pakistan. Due to continuing security concerns, travel restrictions on U.S. Consulate personnel remain in place. Included in these travel restrictions are transportation hubs, markets and shopping malls, military installations, airports, universities, tourist locations, schools, hospitals, places of worship, and government facilities. Additional restrictions on U.S. personnel movement may be put in place at any time.

- Monitor local media for updates
- Avoid crowds
- Avoid demonstrations
- Keep a low profile
- Notify friends and family of your safety
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Review your personal security plans
