Security Alert – U. S. Consulate General Karachi, Pakistan

Location:  Karachi, Pakistan.

Event:  Protests, road closures, significant deployment of security forces, celebratory fire, and increased terrorist activity could occur during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.  Significant traffic delays and disruptions to transportation across Karachi are expected.  U.S. Consulate General Karachi strongly encourages U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings, unnecessary travel, and remain vigilant of their surroundings.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of large public gatherings.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of a large gathering and/or demonstration.
  • Review your personal security plans.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.

The Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi will be closed to the public on Monday, May 2, 2022, through Thursday, May 5, 2022, in observance of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.  We will reopen on Friday, May 6, 2022.  For emergency assistance, please see the contact information below.
