Event: Chup Tazia (September 25) and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (September 29) Processions
Chup Tazia religious processions and gatherings will take place throughout the day on Monday, September 25. The first procession will take place on M.A. Jinnah Road, Karachi. The second procession will begin at Qasr-e-Musayyab and conclude at Imambargah Shah-e-Najaf in Martin Quarters, Karachi.
On Friday, September 29, approximately 45 Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi processions will take place throughout Karachi. The three largest processions will start at Shaheed Masjid; Tower; and Memon Masjid, Karachi.
Expect a heavy security presence and road closures in the areas around the procession routes. In addition, telecommunications coverage may be affected.
U.S. government personnel have been advised to reconsider non-essential travel due to anticipated traffic congestion and road closures on September 25 and September 29.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the areas of large public gatherings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of a large gathering.
- Review your personal security plans.
- Carry proper identification at all times, including a U.S. passport with a current Pakistani visa.
