Location: Lahore, Pakistan
Event: A large religious procession is expected to take place on May 4 in the old city of Lahore. Because Punjab authorities have not given permission for the gathering, a heavy police presence in the areas of the procession is expected. These kinds of situations can escalate quickly. The U.S. Consulate in Lahore encourages U.S. citizens in the city to avoid large gatherings, unnecessary travel, and to remain vigilant of their surroundings.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the areas of large public gatherings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of a large gathering and/or demonstration.
- Review your personal security plans.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Keep a low profile.
