Security Alert – U. S. Consulate General Lahore, Pakistan

Location:  Lahore, Pakistan

Event: In response to the arrest of their leader in Lahore, supporters of a local religious political party are protesting and erecting roadblocks in different areas of the city, including GT Road, Mall Road, Thokar-Mohlanwal Road, Ferozepur Road, and National Highway 5.  More inter-district roads are likely to be blocked in the coming hours in different areas of the city.  The U.S. Consulate in Lahore urges U.S. citizens in the city to avoid travel on roads if possible, and to avoid large gatherings, and remain vigilant of their surroundings.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of large public gatherings.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of a large gathering and/or demonstration.
  • Review your personal security plans.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile
