Security Alert – U. S. Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan

Location:  Islamabad

Event:  Local media report upcoming Chelum processions for Monday, September 27 and Tuesday, September 28 throughout Pakistan.  These events may result in increased security presence, traffic delays, street closures, and disruption of cell phone networks.  Due to the processions, security personnel at the Margalla Hills may be reduced, and U.S. Embassy personnel are not authorized to visit the area on those dates.  The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings, unnecessary travel, and remain vigilant of their surroundings.

  3. Keep a low profile.
  4. Review your personal security plans.
  5. Be aware of your surroundings.
