In light of recent bombings in Islamabad on the morning of May 24th in F-6 and G-9 Sector, the U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens of the ongoing threat of violence in Pakistan and advises all U.S. citizens to maintain a high state of caution. Public areas, including markets, shopping centers, and restaurants, continue to be at a high risk for attacks. As Pakistan security forces continue operations in the FATA and other areas, terrorist groups may look for opportunities to launch such attacks.
The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan urges U.S. citizens to vary their times and routes when traveling anywhere in Pakistan, and to avoid travel patterns to such locations that would allow other persons to predict when and where they will be. Depending on ongoing security assessments, and as part of routine operational security measures, the U.S. Mission occasionally places certain public areas off limits to official personnel.
