Islamabad, April 24, 2014 – U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Counselor Angela Aggeler and University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi signed a three-year agreement to continue their partnership with the Lincoln Corner Muzaffarabad, today in Islamabad. Lincoln Corners are multipurpose resource centers which provide information about U.S. culture and educational opportunities for study in the United States. Under the agreement, the United States will continue providing books, magazines, internet service, multimedia equipment and online academic databases to Lincoln Corner Muzaffarabad, located at the University of AJK.
Aggeler said, “We are thrilled to continue our long-term partnership with the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Lincoln Corner in Muzaffarabad is a wonderful resource for both students and faculty at the University.”
In addition to being public libraries, Lincoln Corners serve as venues for public speakers and educational events. Since its creation in 2005, the Lincoln Corners program in Pakistan has hosted hundreds of speakers for professional, academic and civic groups on topics of interest to both the United States and Pakistan. There are 16 Lincoln Corners in Pakistan.
