Overview

The visa appointment system is intended for eligible applicants who received written notification from the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad that they must schedule an appointment.

  • Expedited Cases

Family based immigration petitions with a prior expedited approval are forwarded to the U.S. Embassy from the National Visa Center (NVC).

When post receives these cases, they are often documentarily incomplete in order to save processing time at NVC.

  • Ageout Cases

  1. CHILD STATUS PROTECTION ACT (CSPA)

A family based petition may include a child of the principal applicant.  In order to protect children from aging out of their cases at age 21, CSPA may extend the eligibility of the applicant, should the applicant meet the CSPA requirements.

  1. CHILD CITIZENSHIP ACT (CCA)

If an American Citizen files an immigration petition for a child that is about to reach the age of 18, NVC sends the case to Post with an EXPEDITED request to process the case.  The CHILD CITIZENSHIP ACT (CCA) intends to help eligible children reach the United States before their 18th birthday, so they can benefit from U.S. Citizenship on arrival in the U.S.

  • Follow-To-Join Cases

A family based petition may allow applicants to immigrate to the U.S. after the principal applicant.  Cases where applicants decided to “follow” the principal applicant to the U.S. at a later date are called FOLLOW-TO-JOIN CASES.

The other applicants on the petition that did not immigrate with the principal applicant can have their cases/visas processed until the principal applicant becomes a U.S. Citizen. Upon receiving these cases from NVC, Post contacts the applicants to schedule them for an interview.

Immigrant visa cases are interviewed at the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad ONLY.

How to Apply

The information below explains how to set an interview appointment online and what documents are required for the interview.

Step 1: Filling Out the Immigrant Visa Electronic Application

Carefully read the guidelines for completing the Immigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-260) before filling it out.  All information must be correct and accurate.  Once the form is submitted, you cannot make any changes.  If you need assistance, you may consult a translator or immigration attorney. Step 2: Creating A User Account and Scheduling Your Visa Appointment

Go to www.ustraveldocs.com/pk/ and create a user account.

To create an account, you will need your passport.  After creating the account, the system will prompt you to select a passport pickup location.

You are almost ready to schedule your visa appointment!

You will need the following information to schedule your appointment:

  • Your passport number
  • The ten (10) digit barcode number from your DS-260 confirmation page
